Today is a day to celebrate the ingenuity of kids. Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a big kid myself. Refusing to fully grow up. A kid’s mind knows no bounds. I work in a professions where we have to invent every single day and today I’m going to do my best to think like a kid. Thanks to kids we have water skis, ear muffs and popsicles. Ben Franklin invented the first swim flippers when he was 12. Television was even invented by a 13 year old with strong determination. Here’s an article about it. http://www.kidzworld.com/article/19948-the-story-of-philo-farnsworth-the-kid-who-invented-tv
Bob Dylan has a lyric in one of his songs that I’ve always loved.
“Ah, but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now”
It’s incredibly deep. He’s realizing that thinking like a grownup boxes you in. He feels like he’s wiser now because he’s thinking like he did when he was young. Oblivious to the limits. That’s when you surpass them. When you don’t know they exist.
Take this kid for example. He built an entire arcade out of cardboard. If this doesn’t tug at your heartstrings, I don’t know what will.
This is amazing
