Aug 18 – Bad Poetry Day

Poetry is an opinion so it’s hard for it to be bad, but this one definitely is.

Not much to groom.

Aug 15 – Failures Day

15 Aug

This is a day to look back at our failures and embrace them. If not for that, we couldn’t grow as individuals. In fact, one of my favorite commercials of all time expresses just that.

My career deals with failure on a daily basis. I present ideas and they can fail internally, on the client level or on a consumer level. You have to always be ready for things to go wrong, but not being afraid to fail is what makes us courageous enough to push forward.

I remember when I was sure that I would win a certain award at school and I didn’t. Not only was that failure humbling, but it taught me to never put that much emphasis on things like that again. Success is what you make of it and no trophy, certificate or peer acknowledgment will ever change that.

Aug 13 – Left Handers Day

13 Aug

There is a movement to make the world more Lefty friendly since the number of lefties has steadily increased every year. We also need to shed light on why left handers are more likely to be schizophrenic, dyslexic or attention deficit. (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204083204577080562692452538.html)

But for some reason, Lefty’s are also some of the most powerful people. Watch the video to see the top 10 most powerful leftys ever.

Aug 11 – Play In The Sand Day

When someone pisses you off, bury them in the sand.

Aug 09 – Book Lover’s Day

9 Aug

I love books and I got a chance to work for bookstore Barnes & Noble.  For the most part, the work wasn’t glamorous, but a couple of my favorite pieces of advertising writing were for this brand. Too bad they never saw the light of day, until now.

Aug 04 – Friendship Day

4 Aug

It’s crazy the impact Facebook has had on friendships. Even the way we might celebrate this day. But what will always be true is that friends are one of the most important parts of being a human. In fact, what makes us human is the ability to self-evaluate ourselves and form a sense of identity. A sense of identity, which often needs to be acknowledged by friends in order to be true. If you think you’re good, but none of your friends do then maybe you’re not good. So who we are could be a reflection of who our friends think we are. Not that we need anyone’s approval, but do you like being liked? Or in the Facebook era, getting likes?
